Habitat Reishi Mushroom
In the remote and mountainous forests of China, Japan and Korea, the extraordinary Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum) can be found. This is where they originally come from. They grow in places where it is warm, moist and shady, where they can grow on the lower trunk of deciduous hardwood trees.
Reishi mushrooms have been used for thousands of years to make a very old oriental medicine, from Chinese medicine. When you see the Reishi mushroom, you immediately notice that it has a distinctive red cap. A fresh mushroom is picked between August and October and feels soft and corky. The Reishi mushroom is also called "mushroom of immortality", because it is considered a special mushroom.
Why use reishi mushroom?
There are numerous health benefits attributed to this special mushroom. Products made from or containing Reishi are sold all over the world. You can think of Reishi capsules, mushroom powder, but also extracts.
Reishi Extract vs Reishi Powder
The extract is a concentrated version of the powder. For maintaining your health you can do fine with reishi powder.
What does 30% extract mean?
30% is the minimum content of polysaccharides. The extraction ratio indicates how much powder is needed to reach this 30%. For Reishi, 15-18 kg of powder are needed to get 1 kg of extract with 30% polysaccharides.

Reishi can be taken in many ways: in coffee, in tea, but also in numerous Asian dishes.
